Daniëlle is a Sport & Exercise Medicine Registrar on the Australasian College of Sport & Exercise Physicians (ACSEP) Specialist Training Program who has joined the team at Qsports in 2023.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Science Degree, where she Double Majored in Psychology and Sport & Exercise Science, Daniëlle was awarded a Summer Research Scholarship and subsequently obtained her Medical Degree all through the University of Auckland in New Zealand. She then gained experience working at all of Auckland’s tertiary public hospitals in a variety of medical and surgical specialties before transitioning to working in the community as a contracted Doctor in General Practice and Urgent Care.
Whilst working Daniëlle has completed further training and courses through World Rugby and the American Spinal Injury Association on immediate pitch-side assessment, player welfare and team-based care, and has also attained her Diploma in Football Medicine through FIFA.
Daniëlle’s passion and early exposure to Sport and Exercise Medicine grew from her own love for and participation in a variety of sports from a young age. Daniëlle represented her age-group regionally at the New Zealand National High School Athletics Championships in both track and field, and represented Auckland at National competitions in field hockey for over a decade. Her sporting career highlights include the honour of being selected for the New Zealand Under 16 Women’s Hockey team as well as representing the Auckland Women’s team in the National Hockey League whilst still at high school.
With a strong background working in contact sport, Daniëlle has an interest in concussion assessment and management. She is currently undertaking research alongside experts in the field to help contribute towards improving outcomes in sport-related concussion. Daniëlle has a strong belief that exercise has great benefits for all both as medicine in acute injury and chronic disease prevention and treatment, but also in maintaining good mental health and social connectedness in our everyday lives. As such, Daniëlle will work with you to tailor care to help you reach your health, well-being, and fitness goals; whether you’re a casual exerciser or an elite athlete. Daniëlle is bilingual (fluent in English and Afrikaans), and outside of work loves hiking, trying new cuisines, and attending art and sporting events.
